Why volunteer?
It allows you to be part of, and invest in, the growing arts & culture community and scene in Prince George and the Region.
It provides opportunities to engage and network with local and visiting artists, musicians, performers, curators, art administrators and creative minds alike.
You can earn your Serving It Right, certifying you for the sale and service of liquor in BC for free.
- Accepted volunteers who get their SIR for volunteering will be reimbursed the $35 fee required for the course. Contact info@ominecaartscentre.com for more information!
You can gain experience that can bolster your CV or education prospects.
What do our Volunteers do?
The following list are the types of tasks our wonderful volunteers can help us out with:

Concession / Bar Service (19+ SIR Required for Bar Service) for Events

Join a Committee!
Participating in a committee is a great way to align your volunteering with your interests and unique skill set, ensuring your contributions are both impactful and fun! Collaborating within these groups also offers more specialized experience that you can use to enhance the strength of your resume or CV.
By joining in our Committees, you can play a pivotal role in driving positive change, contributing to the collective effort that helps Omineca reach its full potential.
NOTE: Joining a committee does not mean you have to do all of the responsibilities listed for that particular committee! For example, even if you can only help with poster design, we still encourage you to join the Communications / Outreach committee so you can stay up-to-date with those conversations. Attend booths or events to represent the organization, answer questions, and promote upcoming activities

What we do:

Volunteer
What we do:
Help new volunteers through the intake process
Reach out to volunteers to organize roles based on skills and preferences
Coordinate current volunteers to staff upcoming events
Provide training and guidance to volunteers to ensure they're equipped for their roles
Offer ongoing support to volunteers by answering questions and addressing concerns that are brought up
Organize events or activities to celebrate and thank our volunteers for their dedication

Curatorial
What we do:
Select upcoming artists in residence from the submitted applications
Coordinate with artists to plan the exhibition's installation, reception, workshop, and take-down
Assist with the installation and take-down of the exhibition

What we do:
Identify maintenance and repair needs
Make repairs or arrange contractors for repair/installations as required

Communicate with external contractors, vendors, and service providers for facility-related projects and services

What do I need to do to join?
Fill out our volunteer form here
After you're done, print off the Criminal Record Check Letter found here
Go to your local RCMP or police station with this letter in-person and request a Criminal Record Check form
You will also have to include the Vulnerable Sector section in order to allow you to work with children.
Be sure to bring two pieces of I.D.
You will receive the results in 2-5 days. Once you have it, email the results to info@ominecaartscentre.com.
Once we've received your cleared background check, you'll be added to our volunteer chat and have an orientation date scheduled shortly after!
