Bio

Richard Mintz embarked on his artistic journey during retirement, initially focusing on painting as a personal project. After a couple of years, he sought guidance by attending art classes with Betty Kovacic. His artistic engagement led him to participate in the Williams Lake Art Walk for two consecutive years, as well as become a part of Omineca Art Centre's Unfold 1 and Unfold 3 exhibitions, alongside selling his work at the markets held by Studio 2880.

In 2019, Richard began using his art pieces to create an annual art calendar, with proceeds dedicated to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. The sales of his 2020 calendar, featuring depictions of old buildings on the Cariboo Highway, exceeded his expectations and have seen steady growth every subsequent year, culminating in sales of 310 calendars for the 2023 edition. For the upcoming 2024 calendar, the theme will revolve around "Rural Life," and Richard is collaborating with the Omineca Art Centre with the goal of reaching sales of 400 calendars.
